SCFA MISSION STATEMENT

As stated in its constitution, the purpose and goals of the SCFA are as follows:

PURPOSE
To govern and regulate the sport of football for member colleges in compliance with the rules and regulations of the COA/CCCAA Constitution and Bylaws in order to provide an environment which emphasizes academic achievement and a positive athletic experience for the student-athletes of member colleges.

GOALS
A. To bring uniformity, strength and competitive balance to Southern California community college football;
B. To promote and support educational goals and academic or career progress, and to stress academic achievement for the student athletes of member colleges;
C. To establish and promote high standards of sportsmanship and ethical behavior for all student athletes, coaches, support personnel and fans.

SCFA ALIGNMENT

The following Division and Conference structure of the new Southern California Football Association was approved at the SCFA implementation committee meeting on Nov. 19, 2007.

Criteria for assignment to each division centered on determining the competitive strength of each football program by using the recent win-loss records (2006 and 2007) of colleges and additional factors, such as size of the college, recruiting area, number of full-time coaches, and competitive tradition.

The goal of the SCFA is to create and maintain competitive balance. The committee feels that at this point in time these assignments are in the best interest of community college football and our student-athletes. These assignments are for two years and then will be reviewed every two years.

2008-09 SCFA Division/Conference Alignment
