SCFA announces Week 4 Players of the Week
The Southern California Football Association is proud to announce its fourth Players of the Week for the 2023 season.

Offensive: Nicholas Poulos, El Camino (QB, 6-5, 225, So., Granite Bay, CA/Granite Bay HS)
Quarterback Nicholas Poulos made his season debut for the Warriors and it was stellar as he went 14-of-18 for 303 yards and four touchdowns. He also added a five-yard touchdown run to his ledger in his Warriors debut.
Defensive: Joe Matthews, Palomar (DB, 6-0, 190, Fr., Oceanside, CA/Oceanside HS)
Joe Matthews led the Palomar Comets with eight tackles, a season-high. He also recorded his first interception which he returned for 73 yards, which set the Comets up for a field goal to give them a then 44-31 lead over the No. 2 Riverside City College Tigers. Matthews had two pass breakups.
Special Teams/All-Purpose: Kian Afrookhteh, Saddleback (K, 5-7, 185, Fr., Dana Point, CA/Dana Hills HS)
Kian Afrookhteh totaled 15 points for Saddleback in its win over Southwestern. He was 3 for 3 on field goal kicks, hitting from 14, 26, and 23 yards while going a perfect 6 for 6 on extra point attempts. His lone punt sailed 43 yards and was downed inside the Southwestern 20-yard line. He also handled kickoff duties, averaging 60.5 yards on 10 kicks with 3 touchbacks.
